AWIS at UGA is the University of Georgia’s chapter of the Association for Women in Science, a national organization with chapters in 42 American states dedicated to "achieving equity and full participation for women in science, mathematics, engineering, and technology” in all scientific fields since 1971.
Our chapter, AWIS at UGA, has been well established for several decades. Our organization facilitates networking between female UGA students and professionals in all fields and disciplines, at all levels. We also have a strong community outreach program as well as a list of great Guest Speakers, both of which are not at all exclusive for any particular gender or educational background. AWIS@UGA prides itself on its Pi in the Sky program, a community outreach program that helps young children in elementary and middle schools become more aware of the exciting prospects scientific fields hold.
